(Intellectual Property Office of Singapore)Legislative Amendments and Fee Updates

The Singapore Parliament has passed the Intellectual Property (Amendment) Bill 2021 on 12 January 2022 which introduces changes to Singapore’s Patents Act, the Trade Marks Act, the Registered Designs Act, the Plant Varieties Protection Act and the Geographical Indications Act 2014. The Bill is aimed to improve business-friendliness, operational efficiency and legislative and procedural clarity. In line with the above, the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has announced various changes in its processes and fee updates. These changes will come into effect on 26th May 2022.

Along with the Intellectual Property (Amendment) Act 2022, various IP subsidiary legislation will be amended to support these process changes. Fees are also updated in light of prevailing operational conditions.
