As per the recent Thailand Department of Intellectual Property (DIP)’s Declaration, we are pleased to inform that the Fast Track system for Trademark Registration and Trademark Renewal in Thailand is now available.  The good news is it can be one at NO ADDITIONAL COST.

Trademark Registration Fast Track System

The usual timeframe for Trademark Registration is around 15-18 months. As per the new Fast-Track Declaration, trademark applications that meet the two required conditions will automatically be reviewed (i.e. no additional fee is required) under the new Trademark Registration Fast Track System which takes only “6 Months” to approve the trademark application. The two required conditions are as follows:

1. The total number of goods/services must not exceed 30 items.
2. Goods/services must be standard items ( pre-approve items from DIP  )

Trademark Renewal Fast Track System

The usual timeframe for Trademark Renewal is around  4-6 months. As per the new Fast-Track Declaration, the examination of Renewal Applications and grant of a Certificate of Renewal will now be completed within “45 minutes” (of a Renewal Application being filed manually over the DIP counter, and without additional Official Fee) provided that the Renewal Application meet the required conditions as follows:

1. The total number of goods/services must not exceed 30 items.
2. No changes have been made to the particulars of the trademark registration., i.e. change of name or address, amendment in goods etc.
3. The Renewal Application must be filed at the DIP by either the owner, or an appointed attorney (general or specific); whereby, in the latter case, the Power of Attorney (POA) must clearly authorise the attorney to file the Renewal Application and collect the Certificate of Renewal on the owner’s behalf.
4. Fast Track examination must be requested manually at DIP office at the time of filing the Renewal Application.
5. All the required Official Fees of the Renewal Application must be fully paid.
